Versatile actress and veteran stage performer Dawn Thandeka King has recently joined Mzansi Magic’s Diepcity which premiered in April. The star left Uzalo fans heartbroken but she is gaining lots of fans who approve of her acting capabilities in the new hit, Diep City.
Many people have often wondered how much Dawn Thandeka King is actually worth.
Dawn Thandeka was the lead actor in Uzalo.
She has been playing MaNgcobo since 2015. So far, she has appeared in over 800 episodes. Her work on the show has been praised by several soap lovers and fans of SABC1.
Thandeka King reportedly earned between R40k and R55K for her role. At the moment of her departure, she was the highest-paid Uzalo cast member. Besides Uzalo, she has also appeared in a few other TV shows and movies, such as Lockdown (2017) and Isehlukaniso (2018). She is also expected to appear on Slay (2021) as Lungi.
Now that Dawn has joined Diepcity, she will undoubtedly be paid way more than R55 per month. Otherwise, what would be the whole point of leaving.
Industry sources who spoke on condition of anonymity say Dawn Thandeka King’s Diepcity salary is pegged at around R63 000 per month for the first season. If this is true, Dawn has certainly elevated herself to the top of Mzansi’s most paid tv stars. It si well deserved however for Dawn as she is very talented in her craft.
“DiepCity”, produced by the award-winning creator and director of popular drama “Lockdown”, Mandla N of Black Brain Productions, is a fresh new telenovela that explores the struggle of four young women trying to make their way in the world.
The show focuses on disillusioned young women who were forced into crime while in high school, just to make ends meet.
